R. Kelly was acquitted on all 14 counts of his child pornography case.Nytimes.com has more details on this:
Mr. Kelly, 41, whose signature song is “I Believe I Can Fly,” saluted a crowd of his fans as he left court and then put his hand on his heart. He made no remarks, but the impassive face he had worn during the four-week trial showed a flicker of a smile.
In the same courtroom where the trial was conducted, five jurors told reporters that the absence of testimony from the alleged victim was a big handicap. “All of us felt the grayness of the case,” one juror said.
Finally this mess is over, time to get back to making good music.

R.Kelly’s Saturday night concert at the Freedom Hall in Louisville was reviewed by Jeffrey Lee Puckett.
R. Kelly is some kind of mad, bulletproof genius, impervious to scandal and capable of almost anything on record and on stage.
After taking his already wildly successful career to stratospheric heights with “I Believe I Can Fly,” a gospel-based inspirational song, he spent the next few years dodging repeated allegations that he had sex with underage girls.

Here is a nice review of R.Kelly’s concert at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, last night.
R. Kelly threw a New Year’s Eve party to remember for himself and about 5,000 paying guests on Monday night at American Airlines Arena. For all the self-created trouble surrounding the r&b star, this concert was a genuinely happy occasion and — with some exceptions — a break from the weirdness and difficulty of being R. Kelly.

I wasn’t going to post about the Ne-Yo-R.Kelly situation but it’s everywhere so I might as well mention it.The recap:
R&B singer Ne-Yo, who was tapped to open for R. Kelly on his Double Up tour alongside Keyshia Cole and J. Holiday, was relieved of his duties just a week into the trek, his label has confirmed. The rest is here.
Ne-Yo later spoke to a radio show and gave his side of the story.
Blah Blah Blah..anyway,when will R.Kelly stop touring with other people? It always ends up bad,I am not sure this drama will do him any good.

The R&B king did an interview, not long ago with the nymag,to talk about “Trapped in the Closet”.It’s very insightful.
R&B genius R. Kelly blew our minds ten times this summer with parts 13–22 of his brilliant, never-ending hip-hopera Trapped in the Closet. In this week’s New York, we, quite rightly, declare the series the Funniest Web Video of 2007. To return the favor, the Pied Piper himself agreed to answer a few of our questions via e-mail. We can’t believe it either!
Are you surprised these films have become seen by so many people? It was a gamble to film them in a way that’s so different from most music videos.
I am surprised that it’s been seen by so many people, but I didn’t make it because I hate music videos. I actually love watching music videos, but I’m always trying to figure out a way to bring something new to the table.Who are your favorite directors?
So many movies, so many great directors. So many favorites. I’m a movie buff.
