Rumors of R. Kelly embarking on a tour in October have been discounted in a statement issued yesterday (August 23) by the crooner’s spokesman.

“Reports that R. Kelly is planning a concert tour in October are not true,” the statement read. “Kelly is currently focused on preparing for his trial and has no definite plans for anything beyond that.”

Various media outlets had claimed that Kelly would be heading on tour with R&B singer Keyshia Cole.

As SOHH previously reported, Kelly is facing 14 counts of child pornography stemming from a video tape that allegedly features the Chicago bred singer engaged in sexual acts with a teenage girl.

Earlier this week, the judge overseeing the trial said the aforementioned tape will be allowed to be shown in court. Prosecutors revealed they plan to bring in an expert witness who has examined the vein patterns of the man’s hand in the videotape, which they believe is consistent with Kelly’s hand.

Kelly’s trial is set to begin on September 17. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
